Just for Fun

Last week I rented Season 1 of the Muppets. I want my kids to love and appreciate the Muppets just as much as I do, and after about a day....Seth was singing "Manamana!" in the car...... ahhh music to my ears.

So I colored my hair this weekend.
The name of the color was Dark Blonde....... Here's what I got.
Can you tell? Neither can I. At least it's shiney now.

Brotherly Love

John LOVES his big brother. He tries to do everything Seth does, even when Seth gets in trouble, he stands right next to him in the corner. I snuck this picture last week. I hope that this is a picture of what is to come. I hope that they will always stand by each other, even when one is in trouble.

Another Milestone

We were very proud of our son this week as he accomplished another milestone. SO proud in fact that he was such a big boy that we decided it was time to get him a big boy bike. Seth was up and ready to go at 730am he was so excited, and was disappointed the store didn't open till 10am. So, off we went to the store where he picked out the Transformers Optimus Prime bike.

We planned to go to the park in the afternoon so he could ride around the bike path, but after naptime it was pouring rain, so we'll try again tomorrow after church though the forecast doesn't look too good. Anyhow, here he is proudly showing it off.

Easter Celebrations

Easter this year was a fun day. This was the first year that Seth was really excited about it. He finally understands Easter is and that it is a day to look forward to, to celebrate.

For a few days before Easter he would ask "Mom, where's the Easter bunny?" and I'd say, "He lives under the ground, but soon he'll come visit us." He seemed happy with that response, but when he started to act up, and I'd say..... "Remember! The Easter bunny's watching!" He'd just look around the room, go to the door, or look out the window and say.... "Where?". You'd think that kids with their incredible imaginations would not ask such literal questions!

So on the morning of Easter I think he'd kinda lost the excitement because he couldn't see the bunny anywhere. He woke up at the usual time and crawled in bed with me. It wasn't until like...10 minutes later when I said...."Hey Seth I think I heard the Easter bunny come to our house last night." That it dawned on him that Sunday was the day. Here are a few pictures.

After Easter baskets and breakfast we went off to church to celebrate the REAL reason for the great day. It was SO crowded, we had 12 kids in the toddler room alone. (INSANITY?!) But after church there was a celebration dinner, and lots of stuff to do.... bouncy houses, face painting....even someone giving out 5 minute neck massages! Later in the day I took the kids to the park to burn off some of the sugar, and we hung out at the house.

Animal Cruelty

Pics

This is the reason why John's teachers have nick-named him Linus.

When I picked Seth up from school yesterday, he couldn't wait to show off his bunny ears! They had a big Easter party at his school complete with an egg hunt and egg dyeing. Seth hopped all over the back yard.

Bubble Guts

At least that was what they told me was wrong with John when they called me at work to come pick him up. I fed him Raisins and Spice Oatmeal for breakfast at 8am, and by the time I picked him up at 1130 and came home, those raisins were waiting for me in his diaper. Yuck...I can't believe I'm blogging about this. But my point being.... despite the fact that John had bubble guts, we had a great day today. I secretly love it when Daycare calls me and I get to take the day off of work and hang out with my baby all day. It gives me one on one time with him, and while he's napping it gives me precious "me" time for a few hours. So I get to watch Family Feud or see what's happening with Bo and Hope on Days or pay bills, or mop the floor(who can mop a floor with four little feet running around?). John isn't really sick....he has bubble guts because he's teething. So.... after some acetaminophen and his nap we went shopping for Easter basket fillers and a big surprise for Dave. And then got to pick Seth up, which was fun because 1. I turned Dave's alarm off before I left so he'd get to sleep in a bit and 2. I got to surprise Seth since I never get to pick him up. AND, when I did pick him up..... I got the biggest "MOOOMMMMY!!" and the biggest smile and the most beautiful 4-year old boy running into my arms with the biggest hug. I love being a Mommy....even with the bubble guts.

Pictures

John may not have much hair, but he sure looked cute when it was sticking up from the static! Seth tried a new trick today standing up on the swing.

Here Seth is showing off the "camel" he thought up and built from the couch pillows and pinwheel.
John could barely keep his eyes open enough to finish his lunch. Church is so exciting he just couldn't sleep until he got home. Here Seth is so cute after his haircut and showing off the snake he was playing with. No it's ok it's not real.

And finally, John being his cute self as usual.

I am exhausted.... and I am looking forward to going to work tomorrow so I can rest!

It's Not Easy Seeing Green

St. Patricks dayis blown WAY out of proportion. I guess I just don't really get the whole....dress up in green and celebrate leprechauns thing, but today took the cake when I was running some errands on my lunch break and ran into.... a parade. What on earth? Since when do cities plan parades on a Friday when everyone is working and in school and for St. Patricks day of all things??

So.... I got dead-stopped in traffic on my way to pay my water bill because the beginning of the parade started down the street. I decided to stop for a cheeseburger drive-in after being re-routed because there was NO way I would have time to eat when I got back (which of course took longer than expected and gave me indigestion). Then after I paid the water bill I ran into the same float at the other end of downtown and had to sit and wait on it.... again.

Next I had to run to the bank to deposit my paycheck and what did I find? Well, not only tons of post-parade traffic but of course a train. St. Patricks day was not my day.....and technically I don't think today is St. Patricks day....isn't it on Monday? Well, Whatever. It was annoying, and I felt like sharing.

Not much new to Report

So...not much new to report here. This week has been relatively uneventful. I didn't get the lead position at work. Mainly I think because 1. Someone else was willing to do the job for cheaper and 2. They've known from the beginning when I took this position that it was only meant to be temporary. So much for being honest. Anyhow, the increase in pay was about all I was looking forward to in the possibility of taking the lead position. I'm crazy busy all the time at work, and I just dont know how I'd manage to fit in checking behind everyone else's work too. That is, unless I'm willing to stay late and come in early, which for me...is not worth the time missed with my family. So...say la vie (or however you spell it).

I've still heard absolutely nothing about the linguist jobs, and seeing as how it's been over a year since I left the Army, I have pretty much given up hope. As much as I love language, it looks like making a career out of it is simply something that will never happen. Perhaps someday I will find use for it in another capacity. My love for language hasn't lessened, but it seems my proficiency has.

That being said... I leave you with a cute picture of my son.

Sunday Stroll

Seth really won over his brother yesterday when he took him for a ride. Its nice to have those rare moments where they really seem to enjoy each others' company. John adores his big brother.

Another weekend too short

Mom and Dad came in and left again this weekend on their way back home from a round about trip through Florida visiting family and friends. It was wonderful to have them here. They left early this morning before the kids woke up and Seth kept asking me all day.."Where's Papa?", and "Can we go to Papa's house?".
Today was a cold day and everyone was sleepy and out of sorts. Both boys slept a lot during naptime. Seth even spiked a fever late this evening and complained of a tummy ache. Hopefully he will be better tomorrow.
